Here’s what LetsConnect uses to find the right people for you, how it keeps getting better, and the choices you have. Questions are always welcome at hello@tryletsconnect.com.
Who we are
LetsConnect (“we”, “us”) means tryletsconnect.com, the LetsConnect browser extension, the service behind it and our emails. We are the controller of the personal data described here. For anything about your data, including data protection requests, write to hello@tryletsconnect.com.
What the extension does on X
LetsConnect works inside x.com, using the X session already open in your browser. It reads X automatically, in the background, through X’s own web pages, and it only reads:
- X search, to find posts of people asking to connect in your niches;
- public profiles and follower and following lists, to check who followed you back and who you already follow;
- your own profile and posts, for the onboarding analysis.
It never posts, follows, likes, replies or sends messages by itself: you click Follow and Reply on X. It never reads your direct messages. It uses your browser’s notifications and alarms for “next round” reminders, and opens a welcome page on this website when you install it.
What we process, and why
| Data | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| Your X account basics: X user ID, handle, name, avatar, bio and follower counts | To create your LetsConnect account. There is no password: a random sign-in token is stored in your browser | While you have an account |
| Your public X profile and up to your last 50 posts and replies | To analyse your niches and how you write, after you agree on the onboarding screen | Not stored. Analysed in the request, then discarded |
| Your niches, your “about” line, your style notes and the X handles you add | To find people for you and draft replies in your voice | While you have an account |
| Some of your own posts, only if you turn on keeping them as voice examples | So your drafts sound like you | Until you turn it off or delete your account |
| X search result pages your extension reads for you, with the posts and public profiles of everyone in the results. Your extension feeds this pool, like everyone else’s | To find people asking to connect. On our servers, posts that don’t ask to connect are discarded at once; posts asking to connect go into a shared pool that other users’ rounds also draw from | Posts asking to connect (including ones we flag as spam): up to 2 days, then deleted. Posts someone acted on, and their drafts, are kept while that user’s account exists |
| Drafted replies | Stored with the post they answer, so you can review, edit and send them | As long as that post is kept |
| Who followed you back, who you already follow, and what you did with each suggestion | To show your stats (people reached, follow-backs, minutes saved, activity by hour) and make each round better | While you have an account |
| Your email address, only if you add one for reminders | To verify it (double opt-in) and send the reminders you asked for. Every email has an unsubscribe link | Until you remove it or delete your account. If an address bounces or is marked as spam, we stop emailing it |
| Abuse signals: a fingerprint of your network at signup (a keyed hash of your IP network, not the IP itself), the invisible human check, rate-limit counters, server logs | To keep bots and spam out and enforce fair-use limits | Signup fingerprints 90 days; counters up to 7 days; server logs up to 30 days, without post text |
| How you use the extension: the screens you open, the buttons you press, your rounds and what you did with each suggestion (recorded with that person’s numeric X ID, never their handle or posts), follow-backs, errors, the AI’s cost and speed, the app version and your IP address (for an approximate location) | To make LetsConnect work better for you: tuning your search and niches, sharpening who we match you with and what we recommend, keeping it fast and reliable, and stopping abuse. It also tells us what to build next | Up to 1 year, then deleted. If you delete your account, ask us and we’ll erase this history too |
| Our emails: sent, bounced, marked as spam, verified, unsubscribed, and the links you click in them | To make LetsConnect work better for you: tuning your search and niches, sharpening who we match you with and what we recommend, keeping it fast and reliable, and stopping abuse. It also tells us what to build next | Up to 1 year, then deleted. If you delete your account, ask us and we’ll erase this history too |
| When you remove the extension: that it happened, plus any reason or note you choose to give us (we strip out email addresses, @handles, links and phone numbers) | To make LetsConnect work better for you: tuning your search and niches, sharpening who we match you with and what we recommend, keeping it fast and reliable, and stopping abuse. It also tells us what to build next | Up to 1 year, then deleted. If you delete your account, ask us and we’ll erase this history too |
| How you use this website: pages, clicks, your IP address (for an approximate location), and replays of visits (mouse movement, scrolling, clicks) with everything you type hidden. Your browser’s local storage keeps a random ID, a session ID and the page you first came from, and one cookie (lc_wid) holds the same random ID, so the extension can link your visits (including replays) to your install and, once you sign up, your account. The cookie lasts 1 year. No replays on /open, /verify-email and /bye, the pages our emails and the extension link to | To improve the website and, once your visits are linked to your install, to personalise LetsConnect for you. With Do Not Track turned on in your browser, nothing is sent | Replays up to 30 days; usage up to 1 year. If you delete your account, ask us and we’ll erase this history too |
| Billing records, if you subscribe to a paid plan (card details are handled by our payment provider, never by us) | To charge for your plan and meet tax rules | As long as tax law requires |
An account without an email address that nobody uses for 30 days is deleted, with its data on our servers. You can ask us to delete your account, and your analytics history with it, at any time.
How LetsConnect learns from usage
Usage data is part of how LetsConnect works. Every round you run shows us which niches bring you the right people, which suggestions you act on and which you skip, and where the extension slows you down. We use it to tune your search and niches, improve matching and recommendations for you and for everyone, keep LetsConnect reliable and keep abuse out. Because it’s there to work for you, it’s linked to your install ID and, once you sign up, to your account, so it isn’t anonymous. We use PostHog to measure it, in the extension, on our servers and on this website.
Usage data never contains:
- anything you type (except an uninstall note you choose to send), or the text of your posts, replies or drafts;
- your email address or the content of any email;
- passwords or tokens, for X or anything else;
- other people’s handles, names or posts (for people you act on, we record only their numeric X ID).
We rely on our legitimate interest here, so you’re always free to object. Write to hello@tryletsconnect.com and we’ll stop using your usage data, unless we have compelling grounds such as abuse prevention.
AI in LetsConnect
Anthropic (Claude) powers the AI. For the onboarding analysis it receives your public profile and up to your last 50 posts. To draft a reply it receives your style notes, your “about” line, your voice examples if you keep any, and the post you’re replying to with its author’s name, handle and bio. Your niches are not sent. Drafts pass our own safety filters (outside links and crypto tickers are blocked), are stored with the post, and you edit and send them yourself.
Anthropic processes this data only to answer our requests and does not train its models on it. Under its commercial terms it may keep it for a limited period to monitor for abuse.
How we improve LetsConnect and its AI
We may use your drafts and usage data, with your account ID, install ID, X handle, and any @handles and links in drafts removed, to improve LetsConnect’s own drafting and matching (for example, tuning our prompts, filters and matching). This data is pseudonymised, not anonymous. We never use it to train general-purpose AI models, never give it to anyone else to train theirs, and nobody at LetsConnect reads individual drafts except to fix a problem you report or to stop abuse. We keep it for up to 12 months. You can object at hello@tryletsconnect.com and we’ll exclude your data.
People LetsConnect suggests
This part is for people on X who don’t use LetsConnect. If your public post appears in the X searches LetsConnect runs (for phrases like “let’s connect”), LetsConnect users’ extensions may read your post and public profile and send them to us, and may check your public follower and following lists for follow-backs.
- What: your X ID, handle, name, avatar, bio, follower counts and the text of your post.
- Why: to suggest you to LetsConnect users in your niche, who may follow you and reply to your post themselves.
- Who receives it: Cloudflare, which hosts our servers; Anthropic, which receives your post, name, handle and bio to draft a reply; PostHog, which receives only your numeric X ID when a user acts on your post.
- How long: results that don’t ask to connect are discarded at once; posts asking to connect (including ones we flag as spam) stay in the shared pool up to 2 days. If a user acted on your post, the post and its draft are kept while that user’s account exists, and analytics about it up to 1 year. If you’re only in a user’s follower or following list, you’re used just for their follow-back checks, kept while their account exists.
- Basis and rights: our legitimate interest in helping people who asked to connect find each other. You can object, ask for access or erasure at hello@tryletsconnect.com, and complain to your data protection authority. Some of this data is processed in the United States, with the safeguards described below.
Who helps us
- Cloudflare hosts our website, our servers and our database, and runs the invisible human check (Turnstile), covered by Cloudflare’s Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
- Anthropic runs the AI that analyses your profile and drafts replies.
- PostHog runs our usage analytics and the website visit replays. We send it no email addresses, posts, replies or drafts. For people you act on, it receives only their numeric X ID.
- Resend sends our emails: address verification and the reminders you asked for.
- The Chrome Web Store handles installing and removing the extension, under Google’s own privacy policy.
- If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment provider processes the payment.
Several of them process data in the United States. Where data leaves the EU or the UK, it is protected by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK Addendum or IDTA), or by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified.
What we never do
- Ask for your X password, or send your X session cookies or tokens to our servers. The extension uses the X session already open in your browser, only on your own computer.
- Post, follow, like or send messages for you. Every action on X is your own click.
- Read your direct messages.
- Sell or rent your data, or use it for advertising.
Our use of information received from the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Legal bases (GDPR)
- Consent: the profile analysis, keeping your posts as voice examples, reminder emails.
- Contract: running the service and your account.
- Legitimate interest: security and abuse prevention; personalising and improving LetsConnect and this website based on how they’re used, including pseudonymised data for our own drafting and matching; showing users the public posts of people who asked to connect. You can object to any of these at hello@tryletsconnect.com.
- Legal obligation: billing records.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing (see above for usage data), and take it with you. You can withdraw your consent at any time; this doesn’t affect processing done before. Write to hello@tryletsconnect.com and we’ll take care of it. On this website, Do Not Track stops analytics in your browser. You may also complain to your data protection authority.
We don’t make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you solely by automated means.
US residents
We don’t sell or share your personal information, or use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. To access, delete or correct your data, write to hello@tryletsconnect.com.
Age
LetsConnect is for people aged 16 and over. If you believe someone younger has an account, tell us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
When this policy changes in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the extension or by email before it applies.
